Difference between application dependency and implicit use applications

Application Dependency is a list of other applications that are required for an application to work.

If not application and its dependencies are not allowed in security policies, then the application will not work

Implicitly Use Applications means that dependent applications are allowed implicitly when firewall is able to determine the correct application by a specific point in the session.

Application Group and Application Filter

Application Group is a static,administrator-defined set of application. Used to treat a set of applications with a similar security policy.

Application Filter is an object that dynamically groups applications based on application attributes that the user selects from the App-ID database. Selectable categories include: Category, Subcategory, Risk, Tags and Characteristics

Any new application downloaded through the Firewall regular content update will be added to the Application Filters automatically if they match to the attributes configuration
