Firewall are placed at the border an it cannot view interior traffic, hence it would not be able to protect against insider attacks.

Default security rules:

• Interzone is denied

• Intrazone is allowed

When traffic leaves firewall

• Source IP translated to outside IP address of the firewall, destination IP no change

When traffic arrives on the firewall, destination IP is translated to INSIDE address. Source IP remains not changed
